Pre-Arrival Correspondence & Requirements

You will already have received detailed correspondence from the Bundaberg Port Marina team regarding your booking. This includes:

  • Your assigned berth information.
  • Specific directions for entering and manoeuvring into your berth.
  • A copy of the Marina Agreement, which you must comply with and
  • Requirements for vessel insurance — minimum third-party liability as well as Salvage and Wreck.

1. Plan Ahead and Make Contact

Contact the marina well in advance (days or weeks) to confirm availability. Bundaberg Port Marina is a very popular destination of choice, especially during peak season. You can reserve your booking online here to avoid any delay or possibly missing out. If you are an international traveller, please refer to our Port Of Entry information.

When you’re about 10–15 minutes away:

  • Call on VHF radio, usually Channel 81 or 16. Many simply call by phone.
  • Provide your vessel name and your intentions.
  • Confirm your slip or mooring assignment.
  • Ask which side to place fenders on.
  • Inquire about dockhand assistance and any landmarks to locate your spot.
  • Note current wind, tide, and current conditions.

Have your vessel documents (registration, insurance, etc.) and payment method ready if you’re not already booked and have not yet provided.

2. Approach Safely and Follow Marina Rules

  • Reduce speed and observe no-wake zones well before entering the harbour.
  • Prepare your boat: fenders out on the correct side, dock lines ready (bow, stern, and springs), crew briefed on roles.
  • Approach slowly and communicate with dockhands if assistance is available.
  • Be courteous to other boaters—tight marinas require patience and good seamanship.

3. Secure Your Boat in the Slip or Mooring

  • Provide instructions to dockhands or the office if you require specific assistance on docking.
  • Tie up securely using proper lines.
  • Once tied, double-check everything is stable before leaving the boat unattended.

Bundaberg Port Marina does not accept cash tips or gifts for helpful dockhands like in many regions.

4. Complete Check-In and Finalize Payments

Head to the marina office soon after securing the boat:

  • Provide the relevant information to marina staff as required on check-in.
  • Settle payment for slip fees, electricity or other services. The marina may ask for payment upon arrival for transients.
  • Receive access cards or fobs for showers, laundry, and facilities.
  • Get important info: Wi-Fi password, pump-out locations, fuel dock hours, trash/recycling, shower locations, and check-out procedures.

Request a receipt and confirmation of your stay details.

5. Connect Utilities and Set Up

  • Hook up shore power (ensure correct amperage and polarity).
  • Connect water hose if available.
  • Test systems and set up any marina-provided amenities.
  • Locate and follow rules for waste disposal, fuel, and services.

6. Final Walk-Through and Boat Setup

  • Stow gear properly.
  • Conduct a quick safety check.
  • Explore the marina and note any restrictions (quiet hours, pet policies, etc.).
